Item Description:

           Male and female singers sing or play solo songs in Romanian, or narrate biographical stories. The creations are Gypsy dances, alienation songs (cântece de instrainare), destiny love song (cântec de soartă, de dragoste), biographical stories. Songs 1, 5, 6 are performed using a harmonica (muzicuță) only, song 4 - using Jew's harp. For the other songs there are no musical instruments used. List of creations: left track: 1. Povestiri din timpul războiului (oral stories from war, unfinished) (neterminată, oprită la cuv. „am fugit”); right track: 1. Dans țigănesc (melodie la muzicuță - Gipsy dance - a melody played with mouth harmonica); 2. Auzit-am prin bătrâni (alienation song); 3. Foaie verde trei gheorghine (destiny/love song); 4. Trei melodii populare interpretate la drâmbă (tree melodies played with Jew's harp/a small, lyre-shaped musical instrument); 5. Dans țigănesc (melodie la armonică de gură - Gipsy dance - a melody played with mouth harmonica); 6. Un buchet de melodii interpretate la armonica de gură (some melodies performed by using mouth harmonica); 7. Bătrânețe, haine grele (sorrow destiny song - unfinished); 8. Povestiri din timpul războiului (oral stories from war, continuation of story nr. 1 from left track, side 1).

Performance/Interviewee Note:

           Male singer play the mouth harmonica (muzicuță) (songs 1, 5, 6: right track) and using Jew's harp (drâmbă) (song 4: right track). Female and male singers sing without any instrumental accompaniment (songs 2, 3, 7: right track). Male narrator recounts in a free personal maaner, without any instrumental accompaniment (story 1: left track) and story 8: right track).
